Minutes of Rollingwood Women's Club Philanthropic Meeting Date: Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at 7:00 PM

Location: Kendall Robinson’s Residence, 4818 Rollingwood Drive

Philanthropic Meeting benefiting Posada Esperanza. Members are asked to bring unwrapped gifts for the immigrant mothers and children served by this Austin non-profit. From the Casa Marianella website [https://www.casamarianella.org/]: Posada Esperanza is the family shelter of Casa Marianella. We are a full-service transitional housing program for immigrant mothers and their children, escaping domestic or cultural violence. Occupying four homes in East Austin, we currently house 14 mothers and nearly 30 children!

Meeting Proceedings:

At 8:05 PM, the meeting was called to order by President Pari Schacht who warmly welcomed all attendees. No new members were announced. Pari introduced our guest speaker, Patti McCabe, Co-Executive Director at Casa Marianella.

Patti spoke in detail about Casa Marianella and Posada Esperanza’s mission. The non-profit opened in 1986 and currently serves 17 families seeking asylum in the United States. She gave insight into the immigrants' journey, how they assist with temporary shelter and support services, and answered members' questions. She also said volunteers are always welcome.

Next, Marnie Fitzgerald, RWC Co-Program Director, announced members brought donations and thanked Patti for coming to speak with our group.

Pari then followed up with a few more announcements: RWC Holiday Party is December 5th, 7 PM at 405 Inwood Rd. Husbands are invited but no children. Pickleball at WHAC the next two Sundays, time is TBD. Playdate in the Park, this Sunday 10 AM. Voting on RWC donations aligned with our mission will occur at the February meeting. Please submit your detailed proposals!
